Here’s how we help keep your achieve by Petra account secure.

Take control with your App PIN
You can set a 4-digit PIN from Profile → Settings → Security Settings.
Once enabled, you are asked for your PIN whenever the app opens and automatically locks the app after it has been in the background for three seconds.
For added convenience, you can also use your phone’s Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint recognition to unlock the app after setting up your PIN.

Keep your balances private
Sometimes, you simply don’t want your balance visible on your screen.
With achieve by Petra, you can tap the eye icon to hide your balances on the home screen. The app remembers your preference, so your balances remain masked until you choose to show them again.

An unfamiliar login needs your approval
Your password shouldn’t be the only thing standing between your account and an unfamiliar device.
When someone attempts to log in from a phone or location your account hasn’t used before, the login is placed on hold until you approve it through a link sent to your email.
The link expires after 30 minutes and can only be used once. This means a stolen password alone isn’t enough to gain access through a new device or location.

Protection against repeated PIN attempts
If someone repeatedly enters the wrong PIN, the app is designed to respond.
After seven incorrect PIN attempts, the account is locked and you receive an alert through push notification, SMS and email.
You also cannot reuse any of your previous three PINs when creating a new one.

Secure PIN recovery
Forgotten your PIN?
achieve by Petra provides a secure recovery process. You take a live selfie, which is matched against your ID photo, and then enter a one-time code to reset your PIN.

One-time codes add another layer of protection
Important activities such as sign-up, account reactivation, PIN resets, redemptions and setting up auto-debit are protected by 6-digit one-time codes.
These codes expire after 10 minutes and can only be used once.

Changes to your contact details are protected
Changing the phone number or email address linked to your account requires your password, as well as codes sent to both your old and new contact details.
This helps protect your account when sensitive information is being changed.

Your money can only go to an account in your name
When you make a withdrawal, your money is paid only to a mobile-money wallet or bank account registered in your own name.
This provides an additional layer of protection around where your money can be sent.

Ghana Card verification helps confirm who owns the account
The app uses a selfie check against your Ghana Card through the National Identification Authority (NIA) to help confirm the identity of the account owner.

Stay informed with security alerts
We believe you should know when important things happen on your account.
The app sends security email alerts for activities including new-device or location logins, password changes, password-reset requests, changes to your email or phone number, account locks and reactivation.
You also receive alerts for important PIN activities and money-related actions, including adding or changing mobile-money wallets or bank accounts and withdrawals.
What if an activity wasn’t you?
Some security alerts include a “This wasn’t me” link.
If you see an activity you don’t recognize, you can use the link to immediately lock your account. This logs you out of all devices, removes your PIN and cancels pending withdrawals.

Changing your password logs you out everywhere
If you change or reset your password, the app immediately ends active sessions on every device.
This helps ensure that an old session doesn’t remain active after your password has been changed.

Your login credentials are securely stored
When you log out, the app clears saved data from your phone.
Login credentials are also kept in your phone’s secure storage—iOS Keychain or Android Keystore.
